BALGOWNIE ESTATE LAUNCHES NEW SUMMER MENU


Yarra Valley’s 4 ½ star Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa celebrates this seasonal change with the launch of its new 2016/2017 Summer Menu at Rae’s Restaurant. Rae’s Restaurants’ team of chefs, have worked closely with Balgownie Estate’s wine experts to put together a fresh and innovative Summer Menu, using only the highest quality and locally sourced ingredients. This 2016/2017 Summer Menu represents the wealth of fresh produce in the Yarra Valley, with many of the herbs and vegetables sourced from Balgownie Estate’s very own kitchen garden. The team of chefs at Rae’s Restaurant are passionate advocates for freshness, seasonality and using regional produce. The varying dishes on the menu take full advantage of the bountiful produce sourced from an extensive network of local suppliers in the Yarra Valley.

With a modern approach this Summer Menu take diners on a culinary journey, with each dish paired to a recommended wine from Balgownie Estate's in-house sommelier.


When visiting Rae's Restaurant for lunch, diners can indulge in entrées such as; Soup De Jour, Thai Fish Cakes with rice noodles and Asian salad, Lemon Pepper Calamari with rocket, red onion and chilli caramel, Rae's Tasting Board and Beetroot Carpaccio with goat's cheese and pear salad.


For a bountiful lunch, mains include; Lamb Rump with a spring vegetable salad, Thai Beef Asian Salad, Scotch Steak with smokey eggplant mash, peperonata, and red wine jus, Warm Chicken Salad with blue cheese, candied bacon and balsamic reduction, Snapper with celeriac remoulade and seasonal greens, and the Roasted Pumpkin Baklava with feta, macadamia nuts, and a pomegranate dressing.

Or for a more luxurious experience, visit Rae's Restaurant for a sophisticated dinner experience and choose from a two course option for $60.00, or indulge in a three course meal for $74.00.


They can enjoy exotic entrées such as; Pork Belly with caramelised apple, crackle and nasturtium leaves, Scallops with pumpkin puree and lemon gel, Zucchini Flowers with ricotta fetta filling and romesco, Rae's Tasting Board and House-Cured Salmon with beetroot crisp, dill crème fraiche and salmon pearls.


Treat your tastebuds to a decadent meal with mains like; Lamb Rump with Thai eggplant, Porterhouse Steak with spring vegetables and rustic fries, House-made Gnocchi with pear puree, crumbled blue cheese and walnuts, Fish of the Day, Pan Fried Duck Breast with crisp polenta, asparagus, orange and Sichuan sauce, Kangaroo Fillet with pomegranate labna and wild berry jus and a Dukkah Crusted Egg Plant with beetroot puree, roast beets and snow peas.


And to finish the meal a range of desserts are available to choose from including; Chocolate terrine, Frozen Chill, summer berry bliss, broken glass pannacotta with lemongrass gelato and a decadent Cheese Selection - these delights will sure have everyone truly satisfied.
